Title:  All Was Quiet
Description:  At the Everett Railroad shops in Hollidaysburg, PA, all was quiet on Thursday Feburary 3, but we learned from the office employees that the railroad would run the next day. We signed our releases and grabbed a nice roster of the 707.

Description:  We arrived on the property just before dawn on a frigid Friday February 4. The crew was adding anti-congeal solution to the fuel tanks as the thermometer showed 16 degrees.

Description:  Everett puts two men on the head end, and has a chaser vehicle with an extra brakeman to facilitate the switching en-route. With the Great Divide of the Alleghenies behind them, and high clouds overhead, the turn comes east through Hollidaysburg with the previous day's interchange from NS.

Description:  At the west end of the former PRR Hollidaysburg Shop and Yard complex, the crew picks up two covered hoppers from a storage track, and reorganizes their train for the run down to Martinsburg. Wind turbines spin in the distant background along Old U.S. 22, just above 'Muleshoe Curve' on the original Allegheny Portage RR.

Description:  The conductor makes his way to the nice, warm cab of the 707 after 45 mintues putting their train together in a frigid breeze. The Allegheny Divide forms the distant backdrop for the city of Hollidaysburg, PA, and the cloud line to the north that will haunt us all day long.

Title:  The Old Conrail Ballast Supply
Description:  The line comes up a significant grade from East Freedom to Roaring Spring, the location of the rock loadout that supplied Conrail with ballast for years. The massive quarry at Roaring Spring is out of view to the right. The crew was running around a few cars during the switching process at Appleton Paper, a mile further up the line.
