Steam and diesel vie for work at the famed Boston North Station on this day in the late 1950's. The Alco-Schenectady built loco circa 1913 sits steaming next to its rival BM GP 7 #1569. No photographer or exact date was listed for this iconic scene of steam vs diesel.

Description:
The 4-6-2 will move to the ready track behind the East Somerville roundhouse (Boston) to wait until it is time to move to the coach yard and back a late afternoon commuter train into North Station. 3662 was built by Schenectady in 1913, scrapped in 1956, See my shot of her leaving the roundhouse.
