PRR 2246, EF-25, 1966
Title:  PRR 2246, EF-25, 1966
Description:  Winter Day. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, during February of 1966. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #2246, #2429, and another unit whose number is not recorded. #2246 is an EF-25 built by EMD in 1963 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2429 is an AF-25 built by the American Locomotive Company in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They are about to pass under the 12th Street Bridge with a mixed-cargo freight train on their way up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. The two-story gray building on the left is the Railway Express Office; two of the PRR 12th Street Car Shop buildings are partially visible on the right. Visible in the distance is the 7th Street Bridge.
