Description:  NST. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Fred Kern that was taken just West of Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 2 July 1955. Shown here are two eastbound Pennsylvania Railroad trains about to pass under the 24th Street Bridge on their way into Altoona. On the right (R to L) are PRR engines #5834 and another "Centipede" whose road number is not recorded. Both are BH-50's built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works and rated at 2,500 horsepower each. #5834 was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in February of 1948 and retired in April of 1962. On the left (R to L) are PRR engines #5764 and an E-8 Class "A" unit whose road number is not recorded. Both were built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. #5764 is an EP-22 built in November of 1952. From the R.R. Wallin Collection.

They've just passed VIEW Tower with a passenger train bound for Harrisburg and points East. Description:  Slope to Works. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 6 June 1965. In the foreground (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5791 and two more units whose road numbers are not visible. All are EP-22's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. #5791 was constructed in May of 1952. They're pulling an eastbound mail & express train and are about to pass under the 7th Street Bridge. In the background, note that the westbound mixed-cargo freight train pulled by engine #9525 has halted. Partially visible in the right distance are some of the PRR's 12th Street Car Shop buildings.
