Southern Railway #2664 (GP35) and GP-38's #2787 and #2742 are pulling box cars loaded with plywood from the Georgia Pacific plant
Southern Railway GP35 #2664 was built February 1965 and later became Norfolk Southern #2664 before leaving the NS roster to become Wheeling & Lake Erie (WLE) #2664. There is a track behind the locomotives that comes up from the Seaboard Coast Line Lineville Subdivision (GP38 2742 is just a few feet from the SCL overpass). During the Southern Railway era, most rail traffic associated with Georgia Pacific was routed via Southern Railway's "R" line to Columbus, GA. Now, the Southern Railway, these units and this branch line are all history. However, in 2010, this plant still generates significant business for CSXs Lineville Subdivision as a local is based a few miles away in Manchester solely to work this customer.
