PRR 6308, AF-27, 1965
Slope to Works. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 6 June 1965. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6308, an AF-27 built by the American Locomotive Company in March of 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower. In this context, it's serving as a tail-end pusher on a mixed-cargo freight train on its way up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin, where it will be uncoupled and returned to East Altoona for further assignment. (#9 of 44)
