ELDO Action. Here is the eighth of eight original photos that I took in the Eldorado section of Altoona, Pennsylvania, in January of 1966. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9819 and #9537. Both were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9819 is an EF-15A built in May of 1951 and retired in November of 1966, while #9537 is an EF-15 built in September of 1948 and retired in May of 1966. They're pulling their mixed-cargo freight train from Altoona through Canan Station to the Wye Switches in Duncansville, and thence up the New Portage Branch line to Gallitzin and points West. There're four GMC products here! |
