Amtrak 2550 AIR FORCE ACADEMY was one of twelve Plan 4195 8-roomette/6-double-bedroom sleepers built by Pullman-Standard for the Rock Island in 1954. They were the only cars built with the configuration, and all of them were sold to Judge Roy Hofheinz of Houston in 1968. The cars became Amtrak 2550-2561 in 1972, which took the unusual step of renaming all of them except for this one! (approximate month) |
