Built in 1953 by Budd in Lot #9613-135 as AT&SF 48 seat leg rest chair #2835, 1 of 45 such cars (#2816-#2860) built in that Lot, which was ordered in September 1952; cars were delivered between September and December 1953. In 1971, Amtrak acquired 42 of these chairs as #4810-#4828 and #4850-#4872, the #2835 as #4827. In 1980, Amtrak converted 40 of these chairs to HEP as #4700-#4739, the #4827 was converted to #4714 in March of that year. In 1982-1983, Amtrak reconfigured 10 of these chairs to 88 seat coaches for the CLOCKER service, the #4714 was reconfigured to #7627 in March 1983. 3 of these reconfigured cars, including the #7627, were sold in 1997 to the Providence & Worcester. 2 of these 3 cars received names, the #7627 was named RHODE ISLAND.
