N&W 2570, looking west  Contributor's Pick!
N&W RS-11 2570, ex-NKP 570, was the trailing unit on a westbound freight in Ironton, OH in March 1979. Date is uncertain. Note the Roman-style "N&W" lettering, in gold or yellow, on the hood; and the extended windows on the cab. This was one of the few Alco's I ever saw in action. Further, note the relatively clean exhaust--no turbo lag here! BTW, I took this picture using a 110-series camera (remember those?) and used my new Epson scanner's "color correction" feature, as the original print had faded badly over the years. At any rate, we still have the photo and memories even though 2570 may be long gone by now.
