| This is the trestle spanning Middle Bernard Creek at MP 52.9 of the former SP Bellaire Subdivision, 53 miles west of Houston on the original San Antonio & Aransas Pass Railroad (SA&AP). The line was abandoned east of here by UP in 2000 due to a better alternate route (the Glidden Subdivision) and due to pressure from Houston's Metropolitan Transit Agency (who wanted to buy the line for ROW). UP retained the line west of Chesterville to serve a rice elevator until 2008. |
