ELDO Action. Here is the second of eight original photos that I took in the Eldorado section of Altoona, Pennsylvania, in January of 1966. In the foreground of this telephoto view is the shanty with the "ELDO" sign; it sits where a Tower of the same name once stood. In the distance is the front end of Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9819, an EF-15A built by GM-EMD in May of 1951, rated at 1,500 horsepower, and retired in November of 1966 after just 15 years of revenue service. |
