Coaling Tipple. Here is an original telephoto view that I took from atop the Pennsylvania Railroad's coaling tipple in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 11 September 1965. Here is a another view facing westward. On the left are the eastbound Receiving and Classification Yards. In the center is the East Altoona Roundhouse, now just half of its original size. Beyond it are the two bridges in Juniata. The large structure at the far right is the Erecting and Machine Shop. Also note the locomotive in the center heading toward the tipple. |
