Coaling Tipple. Here is an original photo that I took from atop the Pennsylvania Railroad's coaling tipple in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 11 September 1965. Here is a view facing northwest toward Altoona. Visible at the far right are the PRR's Westbound Classification Yards, now filled with hundreds of junk freight cars. In the center are dozens of dead-lined Diesels and passenger cars. The 17th Street Bridge in Juniata is also visible. |
