PRR 6311, AF-27, 1966
12th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, during March of 1966. Shown here is PRR engine #6311, an AF-27 built by the American Locomotive Company in 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower. It is pulling a special cargo freight train past the Altoona Station on its way up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. Visible in the background are three of the original PRR 12th Street Car Shop buildings.

Robert Farkas General Great historic photo. The cabin cruiser behind the locomotive looks like something from a model railroad. 10/18/2016 5:25:28 AM
