BPC 0-6-0 #1 - Bay Point & Clayton RR  Contributor's Pick!
A rare photo of the 1907 oil burning Baldwin locomotive built for the Bay Point & Clayton RR. A twin loco was also built but was labeled and numbered Cowell Portland Cement Co #2, the parent company of the Bay Point & Clayton RR. Originally the line was to run from Bay Point to Clayton, but after hearing about the railroad being built, the land owners jacked up their price so the railroad could only purchase enough land to run from Bay Point to Cowell instead of reaching Clayton. Engine specs - 50-inch drivers, 18 X 24-inch cylinders, weighed 108,000 pounds, and provided 25,000 pounds of tractive force.Photo credit goes to J.C. Hammond.
