Volkmer. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by William D. Volkmer that was taken in Enola, Pennsylvania, in April of 1960. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5825: built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as a BP-60 in May of 1947 and rated at 3,000 horsepower for passenger service; later regeared for freight/helper service, downgraded to 2,500 horsepower, and reclassified as a BH-50; eventually retired in April of 1962 after just 15 years of revenue service. |
