This view of the Louisville & Nashville’s station at Rigolets, Louisiana was taken from Train No. 33-99, the combined PIEDMONT from New York, the PAN-AMERICAN from Cincinnati and the GULF WIND from Jacksonville. Even though it looked like it was out in the middle of nowhere, Rigolets station was within the city limits of New Orleans, 30 miles east of downtown. It remained in use until August 1962; although during its final years the only service here were commuter trains 9 and 12, which ran between New Orleans and Pass Christian, Mississippi. After this building closed, trains 9 and 12 continued to stop here until they made their last runs on 6 May 1964. |
