| Westing. Here is a photo that was published originally in Fred Westing's 1974 book entitled "Pennsy Steam And Semaphores," page 118. Partial Caption: "Note the offset location of the bell on No. 3395, the K29s class engine, and the forward position of the two single-stage air compressors. The 3395 had one main air reservoir placed between the main frames out of sight." Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #3395, the K-29S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built by the American Locomotive Company as a K-29 in October of 1911, rebuilt in Juniata as a K-29S in August of 1913, and retired in September of 1929 after just 18 years of experimental service. |
