Pushed Under The Coal Tower
Union Pacific 4017 is shoved under the coaling tower by a shop switcher at Cheyenne. Steam switch engines were often used when moving the Big Boys around the yards and engine terminals, and today is one such occassion. 4017 was one of 6 Big Boys to operate in 1959, and one of 8 Big Boys to eventually be preserved. After retirement, the engine would be donated to the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay, Wisconsin in May of 1961. Obtained from Union Pacific Steam: Big Boy Portraits (Bush, Ehernberger)
