WB. Here is an image of a photo by J.M. Johnson that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in May of 1967. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6859, an AS-18AM built by the American Locomotive Company as number "8659" in January of 1958, rated at 1,800 horsepower, and renumbered "6859" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. In this context, it's shifting cars in the Eastbound Receiving Yard. Note the Brakeman riding atop the fourth car. Photo taken from the 4th Street Footbridge. William E. Burket Collection. |
