PRR 7538, B-6S, 1938         
Here is a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken at the 59th Street Yard in Chicago, Illinois, in January of 1938. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #7538, a B-6S (0-6-0) switcher built in Juniata as a B-6 during May of 1910, rebuilt as a B-6S in August of 1927, and retired in April of 1948 after 38 years of faithful service. Note the Fireman perched atop the coal bunker ~ serving as a lookout ~ during a backup move! Gary Mittner Collection.
