| Here is page three of a four-page article by E. John Long entitled "Runaway." It was published originally in the August 1953 issue of "Trains & Travel" magazine, page 20. Partial Caption: "A view from above shows clearly how the 'Federal' crossed the concourse, fell through the concourse floor, and stopped just as the nose of the engine reached the waiting-room door." Visible here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4876, a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) built in Juniata in January of 1939 and rated at 4,620 horsepower. |
