| The mendota highway bridge in the backround by Fort Snelling remains today Hwy 55. The Milwaukee Road mainline used to run under that. You are looking at the Milwaukee Road mainline bridge tracks being removed. By 1957 Milwaukee road built the hump yard in St Paul and preferred running on the short line bridge in Minneapolis over the Mississippi River. A swing bridge used to open for bardge traffic at what you are looking at. |
