PRR HOMER Tower, c. 1920
Homer Tower. Here is an image that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1920. Shown here are two hardy Yardmen "ridin' the westbound hump" at the Pennsylvania Railroad's HOMER Tower on a frigid Winter's day. Note the hand-thrown switches down the line. HOMER Tower actually sits atop a tunnel over the PRR's east- and westbound mainline passenger tracks. The names of the photographer and the Yardmen, as well as the exact date, are not recorded.
