PRR 4219, EP-20, c. 1966 |
Description: |
Here is an image of a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken near South Amboy, New Jersey, c. 1966. Shown here (R to L) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4219 and another unit whose road number is not recorded. Both are EP-20's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,000 horsepower each. #4219 was constructed as number "5859" in February of 1948 and renumbered "4219" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. In this context, they've just departed the South Amboy Station with an afternoon passenger train bound for Bay Head Junction. Edward Kaspriske Collection. |

PC 4219, E7A, c. 1968 |
Description: |
Lorenz. Here is a photo via Bob Lorenz that was taken near the Passenger Station in Crestline, Ohio, c. 1968. Shown here is Penn Central engine #4219, an E7A built by GM-EMD for the Pennsylvania Railroad as number "5859" in February of 1948, rated at 2,000 horsepower, and renumbered "4219" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. Looks to me like it's time to change engine crews. (Gift from Brad Mann.) |
