Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken near Hammond, Indiana, on 5 September 1953. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #5794 and another E-8 whose number is not recorded. Both are EP-22's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. #5794 was built in June of 1952. Note that both locomotives are still sporting their original DGLE livery! ("Tchowee"; #20 of 29) |

WIL-ALT-64. Here is an original photo that I took during a trip on Pennsylvania Railroad passenger trains from Wilmington to Altoona on 03 July 1964.= Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #5838, #5850-B, and #5794. All were built by EMD. #5838 is an EP-22 built in 1951 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #5850-B is an EP-20 built in 1947 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. #5794 is an EP-22 built in 1952=and rated at 2,250 horsepower. With four cars already coupled on, they are waiting to couple onto a 16-car passenger train heading to Altoona, Pittsburgh, and points West. |
