Hazy. Here is an original telephoto view that I took of Penn Central Railroad property in Altoona, Pennsylvania, during July of 1973. Shown here (L to R) are some of what used to be Pennsylvania Railroad Passenger Car Shops, the two-track mainline through Altoona, as well as several freight trains awaiting crews and engines to pull them up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. Awaiting permission to proceed is a westbound merchandise freight train, headed by PC engine #6076. Photo taken from the 4th Street Bridge. |
