Here is a one-page editorial comment entitled "The Decline And Fall Of PRR Steam Power." It was published originally in the October 1949 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 4. No author is specified. Photo Caption: "Among the latest additions to the Pennsylvania's huge roster of diesels are 26 Baldwin freight units like No. 9584, shown at Enola, Pa. This is the first 1500-horsepower 'shark nose' type." Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9584 and #9524. #9584 is a BF-15 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in May of1949, rated at 1,500 horsepower, and retired in December of 1963. #9524 is an EF-15 built by GM-EMD in July of 1948, rated at 1,500 horsepower, and retired in May of 1966.
