Kern. Here is a postal card entitled "Pennsylvania 4866." No Postmark. Caption On Reverse: "North Philadelphia, Pa., May 12, 1956. GG-1 4866 glides along the platform for the station stop. Pennsylvania 4866 was one of three GG-1's to receive the silver color scheme. The other two were 4872 and 4880. Color was chosen for 'Congressional' service." Photo by Fred R. Kern. #4866 is a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) built in Juniata during January of 1938 and rated at 4,620 horsepower. Here, it's pulling a passenger train that originated in New York City. Visible in the background is a portion of the passenger shelter at the first station stop on the Cherry Hill Branch. |
