Title:
PRR 7129, EFS-17M, 1962
Description:
Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken near Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, on 22 July 1962. The photographer is not identified. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #7129 and two more "Geeps" whose numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated as 1,750 horsepower each. #7129 was built in June of 1957 and retired in September of 1964 after just seven years of revenue service. In this context, they're pulling a mixed-cargo freight train out of Conway and will soon pass through the New Portage Tunnel on the way down the Allegheny Mountains to Enola and points East. Photo taken from the State Route 53 overpass. ("LouisFols"; #23 of 39)
