Title:
ex-Gulf Oil no. 7, soon to be Lehigh & New England no. 602
Description:
Originally built as a 65-ton switcher for the US Army in July 1944, this loco was modified into a 75-tonner while it worked for Gulf Oil. Here it is shortly after it was aquired for preservation with an Anthracite Railroads Historical Society reporting mark. The date of 11/14/1988 on the slide appears to be inaccurate compared to other photos of WKS 602, so the listed date is approximate. Hans Kuring photo, from the Ralph L. Phillips collection of the Bay State Model Railroad Museum.
