MOAY arriveds Eagle Bridge. The track in the foreground used to be the D&H, but is now the Battenkill. At the time, CP/D&H train SC-R ran out here in the middle of the night to interchange cars with the BK. When this was the D&H and B&M, the D&H had trackage rights (like they do now) and would just continue northward from here. |

CP 169 |
Description: |
Delanson is so named for the railroad that served it, the Delaware & Hudson. If you take the DEL out of Delaware, the AN out of and, and the SON out of HKdson, you get Delanson. This is CPF 499, and where the once-important Albany Main diverges from the Freight Main (I can't seem to come up with the D&H names, so I have to use the 'modern' Guilford-applied names). This train starts in Kenwood Yard in Albany, runs north to Mechanicville, west to Mohawk, where it pick's up the train left by ST AYMO, then south to Binghamton, where it turn into NS 204 and runs to Buffalo. |

Description: |
Originally built as Maine Central 252, B&M 252 is seen switching the Rotterdam Junction yard. These engine had alot of problems after the Guilford consolidation, due to their light-weight construction because of the small rail on many of MEC's lines. Many of these units suffered frame damage due to being placed in heavy drag services. I believe they tried to beef up the frames on them, but it didn't always work. |

Detween Shushan and Greenwhich Jct. the Batten Kill crosses the Batten Kill numerous times, but there is little way to access it, except by foot. This is the only crossing in that stretch, and when the road crosses the Batten Kill, it does so on a covered bridge, which could be used to frame the train, but I didn't want to chance a ear coming right when the train did. The rusty old sign on the left tells the flanger or spreader operator that there is a crossing coming up and to lift anythintg that is below rail level. |
