Description:  AHC. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1951. Shown here (R to L) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9806 and three more "EF" Class units whose numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9806 was constructed in April of 1951. In this context, this A-B-B-A set is rounding the Curve with a manifest freight train on its way down the Allegheny Mountains to Altoona and points East. Note the Fireman inspecting his train and the grey brakeshoe smoke produced by the train on Track 2.

Description:  Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken near Marysville, Pennsylvania, on 15 November 1959. The photographer is not identified. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9806 and two more "EF" Class units whose numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9806 was built in April of 1951 and retired in August of 1967 after just 16 years of revenue service. In this context, they're pulling a fully-loaded mineral train out of Altoona and are about to cross the Rockville Bridge on their way to Harrisburg and points East. ("LouisFols"; #16 of 26)

Description:  12th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, during April of 1961. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engine #9806 and another unit whose number is not recorded. #9806 is an EF-15A built by EMD in 1951 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. They are pulling a mixed-cargo freight train past the 1870's-era Passenger Trainshed on their way up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. Also visible in the background are portions the 12th Street Bridge and the PRR's 12th Street Car Shops. ("Red Shift" slide converted to Black & White.)

Description:  17th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 25 April 1964. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #9806 and #9644. Both are EF-15A's built by EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each; #9806 was built in 1951, but #9644 was built in 1950. They are pulling a 63-car eastbound coal train under the 17th Street Bridge on their way to the Altoona Yards. The caboose is #477148. Partially visible in the background is the PRR's Test Plant building.
