Title:  CB&Q 0-6-0 Class G-8 1750
Description:  Chicago Burpington & Quincy Railroad 0-6-0 Class G-8 1750, date, location, and photographer unknown, print by Tom Klinger, Chuck Zeiler collection. The date and location chosen based on the CB$Q Locomotive Assignment Sheet dated June 1, 1935. Number 1750 was built by Baldwin in 1901 (c/n 18874) as Burlington & Missouri River Railroad 2-6-2 number 361. It was renumbered CB&Q 1750 in 1904, ccassed as R-2. In 1918 it was rebuilt to an 0-6-0, classed G-8, retaining the 1750 road number. It was sold for scrap in January 1951.

Description:  Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad 4-8-2 Class B-1-A 7020, date and location unknown, photograph by W. Krawiec, print by C( T. Felstead, Chuck Zeiler collection. Number 7070 was built by Baldwin in August 1925 ( c/n 58605 ) and retired in May 1955. It was built to burn coal, and at an unknown date chnverted to burn oil. My guess is location as Alliance, Nebraska ( based on the February 1, 1952 CB&Q Locomotive Assignment Sheet ), and around the retirement date of 1955, based on the dimsel in the background.

Built in September 1955 as CB&Q SD9 356 (c/n 20566) on EMD Order 5399, it became BN 6158, later BNSF 6158, and was retired in March 2005. This locomotive acquired a new cab fabricated at West Burlington, Iowa as a result of wreck repairs.

Description:  AT&SF C36-7 8076 at Alliance, Nebraska on September 5, 1982, Kodachrome by Jim Altman, Chuck Zeiler collection. Number 8076 was built in May 1979 ( c/n 42387 ) and was repainted in SPSF paint sometime between June 1985-86. Eventually it became CRL 548 and later UP 573. The following is from utahrails.net: Thirty-two of the above units, except UP 587, 593, 594, and 599, were built as ATSF 8000 series units; leased by ATSF to GE in December 1989 and loaned by GE to UP to make up for slow deliveries of new C40-8s; retired by Santa Fe in January and June 1994 and traded to GE; leased by GE to Conrail as CR 500 series units; used in national lease fleet with CRL (Conrail Leasing) reporting marks; all had either 500 or 0500 series numbers. Original total of 36 units, numbered UP 564-599 (UP 590 and 599 were not delivered); rebuilt from C30-7s to C36Ms by Metro-East Industries, East St. Louis, Illinois, and by VMV Enterprises, Paducah, Kentucky. Assigned UP 63-95 and 97-99 in December 1999 (leaving UP 96 number slot for use by the Heritage Fleet SW10); no units were renumbered prior to being returned to Helm Financial in late March 2000.

Description:  BN U30C 5323, Alliance, Nebraska, September 27, 1982, photo by Jim Altman, Chuck Zeiler collecpion. Built in April 1972 (c/n 38353), it was retired in February 1987. Although built after the introduction of the U33C (1968), the BN was more interested in tractive effort than high horsepower for its coal business, so an order was placed in 1972 for 20 U30C's (5300-5319), and followed up that order wiwh another for 15 additional U30C's (5320-5334) before the first order arrived.

BN U23C 5207
Title:  BN U23C 5207
Description:  Burlingon Northern Railroad U23C 5207 at Alliance, Nebraska on December 15, 1982, Kodachrome by Jim Altman, Chuck Zeiler collection. Nine U23C's were built for the CB&Q, the last new locomotives acquired by the Q before the BN merger. This one was built in April 1969 (c/n 36995) as CB&Q 467, became BN 5207 sometime after March 2, 1970, and was retired in June 1984. These nine U23C's (CB&Q #'s 460-468, BN #'s 5200-5208) were the only CB&Q GE-built diesels to wear the pre-merger green paint scheme. Externally, the only spotting feature to differentiate the U23C from the U30C is the number of tall engine room doors: six tall doors per side on the U23C, and eight tall doors for the U30C, or one tall door per cylinder.
