PRR 2433, AF-25, 1965
Title:  PRR 2433, AF-25, 1965
Description:  Rainy. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 12 October 1965. Pictured at the right is a train consisting of 110 empty hoppers ~ headed by Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9808 ~ on its way up the East Slope of the Allegheny Mountains; the N-5 cabin car is #477202. Pictured at the left (L to R) are PRR engines #2433, #2239, #2362, and #2286. #2433 is an AF-25 built by the American Locomotive Company in March of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2239 is an EF-22 built by GM-EMD in May of 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #2362 and #2286 are EF-25's built by GM-EMD and rated at 2,500 horsepower each; #2362 was built in March of 1965, but #2286 was built in June of 1964. They've come down the East Slope of the Allegheny Mountains with a 99-car merchandise freight train and are on their way to the Enola Yards. Visible at the far left are some of the PRR's 12th Street Car Shops. Photo taken from the 12th Street Footbridge. (#13 of 21)
